Last Summer, Lionel Messi won his first FIFA World Cup with Argentina en route to claiming his second Golden Ball Award as the tournament’s most outstanding player. Several sports commentators believe that Messi’s accomplishments in the Summer of 2022 helped solidify his case as the GOAT of the sport over Diego Maradona and the great Pelé. Messi agreed to take his talents to Miami a few weeks ago by signing a multi-year deal with Inter Miami CF worth $60 million per season.
On Tuesday, Messi led Inter to a 4-0 victory over Atlanta United in the MLS Leagues Cup at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, scoring the game-winner. Before the contest, DJ Khaled’s son, Ashad, was given the honor of walking out of the field with Messi as the team’s mascot. The 6-year-old could be seen crying tears of joy while Messi consoled him and his proud parents looked on from the sidelines.
