Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Thursday dismissed criticisms of the N39 billion spent on renovating the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Wike, who spoke during a live media chat in Abuja, disclosed that within three weeks of unveiling, the centre has generated N650 million for the administration, as opposed to the N50 million that the administration used to receive annually from the facility before the massive rehabilitation.

He also responded to allegations that he allocated about 41 plots of land to his two sons, describing the allegations as sponsored by a failed politician from Adamawa State.

Wike, who refused to mention the alleged sponsor, said such information does not contribute to national development.

He also declared that peace has returned to his home state, Rivers, saying he does not owe anyone an explanation on the terms of the truce.

According to him, several people had turned the crisis in Rivers State into an “oil well”, from which they were drawing illicit funds for their selfish interests, saying such fifth columnists are no longer happy that he has reconciled with the suspended Governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara.
