Nigerian stars made a striking impact at the 2025 Met Gala, on Monday, May 5, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated Black dandyism and its deep influence on global fashion.

Among the standout appearances, Nigerian-American actress and comedian Ayo Edebiri wowed in a custom Ferragamo piece adorned with intricate coral beading, a nod to traditional Edo royalty and her Nigerian roots.

Afrobeats singer Burna Boy turned heads in a deep burgundy three-piece suit, layered with a matching leather cape. He completed the look with a yellow shirt and dark sunglasses, radiating power and confidence on the carpet.

Tems, the soulful hitmaker, stunned in a striking blue and green Ankara-inspired ball gown. With its voluminous silhouette and bold bow detail, the look beautifully blended African heritage with high fashion, earning widespread praise.

Renowned author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie also graced the red carpet, adding a touch of literary grace to the night’s glamour.

The dress code, “Tailored for You,” invited guests to deliver personal interpretations of the theme. This year’s exhibition notably focused on menswear for the first time since 2003, showing the role of tailored fashion in Black culture.

The event was co-chaired by A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James as honorary chair, showing the global influence of Black style.

Beyond fashion, the 2025 Met Gala celebrated the rich cultural stories woven into Black dandyism with Nigerian talents proudly at the forefront.
