After missing the 2022 World Cup party in Qatar, the Super Eagles will begin their journey back to the Mundial, today, with their first game in the qualifying series against Lesotho.

The match will be held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom, from 5.00 p.m.

After today’s game, the Eagles will fly to Southern Africa, where they will confront Warriors of Zimbabwe at Haye Stadium, Butare, Rwanda, on Sunday.

Looking forward to a successful outing today, the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) General Secretary, Muhammad Sanusi, yesterday revealed that the federation prepared the team for success in the game, which, he said, the federation is using to prepare the national team for a good outing at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Also speaking on the game, former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu, said the team would win handsomely if success-starved football lovers did not distract them.

He said: “The fans should not castigate the coaches and players for any decision they take on team selection.

“The players need to be focused and given the best motivation to be successful against Lesotho. Failing to qualify for the last World Cup in Qatar was a major blow to the nation. So, it is important the Eagles are supported and put in the right frame of mind in these World Cup qualifying games,” he said.
