On Tuesday, a shooting incident occurred at Morgan State University in Baltimore, resulting in injuries to at least four individuals, none of them critical, as confirmed by authorities. Urging students to seek shelter on the historically Black college campus, the Baltimore Police Department initially labeled it an “active shooter situation.” The campus remained on lockdown for several hours, and law enforcement provided limited information about their ongoing investigation. The shooting location was identified as a residential building situated on the same block as a city police station.
Police, using the platform formerly known as Twitter, requested everyone to stay indoors and avoid the affected area. After approximately three hours, authorities announced that the situation was no longer active, with further details anticipated during a media briefing. Police spokesperson Vernon Davis informed the Baltimore Banner that at least four people had been shot. Another police spokesperson, Amanda Krotki, stated that there were multiple victims with injuries that were not life-threatening.
City Council member Ryan Dorsey revealed that it was believed three shooters had fired into the crowd, although no arrests were made. This incident unfolded amid a week of events leading up to the school’s homecoming game scheduled for Saturday. The coronation ceremony for Mister & Miss Morgan State was planned for Tuesday night at the Murphy Fine Arts Center, an area the school advised people to avoid.
