The family of Ndidi Livingstone, the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman of Mgboshimini, in Obio/Akpor Local Council of Rivers State, is seeking justice.
Livingstone was allegedly shot dead on Saturday, January 13, by police officers.
The Guardian learnt that the incident occured on Saturday evening, in front of Peculiar Faith Ministries (Christ Centre), Rumueme Waterside, Mile 4.
Elder brother to the deceased, Godspower, in an interview, said his brother was killed by four men in police uniform armed with AK-47 rifles.
He said his brother was trailed to the church by a tinted Toyota Highlander Sport Utility Vehicle.
He said: “I was in the house when I heard that my immediate younger brother, Ndidi, had been shot dead at the gate of Peculiar Faith Ministries, his church at Rumueme Waterside.
“People said they saw my brother when they were trying to push him into the vehicle. As my brother was struggling to go into the church, they shot him at the head and stomach.
“The police and other law enforcement agencies should see what they can do about the death of my brother. We need justice.”
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said: “We are aware of the incident and we are trying to unravel the circumstances surrounding what transpired, and to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
“No arrest has been made so far, but the CP has put motion in top gear to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.”
