Popular activist Adetoun has said she will not delete the viral video of a young girl and her mother that sparked widespread reactions online.

Addressing concerns over her decision to show the girl’s face, Adetoun explained that blurring the child’s identity would have reduced the impact of the video and possibly denied the girl the assistance she later received.

The activist had earlier criticised the mother for bringing the child along for a street-sweeping job at 4 a.m., a move that drew mixed reactions from the public.

Despite the backlash, Adetoun insists she has no regrets and maintains she will keep the video on her page.

In a recent interview, Adetoun stated, “If I had blurred that girl’s face, the reactions that came to that post wouldn’t have come, the people that donated to her wouldn’t have donated and I’m never going to delete that video off my page, it’s never coming down ever.”

Some people have praised Adetoun for her actions, while others have criticised her for exploiting the situation for personal gain.

beccaszn remarked; “Because ur using it for selfish gains.. this one too na person “Best mother in the world” wahala”

ifynachii also remarked: “I have a Question; what if that woman was with her maid or a child who wasn’t hers the reactions would be different… y’all would’ve praised this lady. Anyway…. She needs to take the video down.”

A few commenters have questioned Adetoun’s motives, suggesting that she would have reacted differently if the child was not her own.

Others have expressed concern about the girl’s privacy, given that she is underage.
